The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reports roughly 112 million incidents of people drinking and then getting behind the wheel in the United States each year — that’s almost 300,000 every day. The tragic result: about 11,000 alcohol-caused fatalities annually.

So Who Are These Drivers?
According to the CDC’s data:
- In 2010, men were responsible for 81% of all drinking and driving in the U.S.
- Men ages 21–34 made up only 11% of the population, but were responsible for 32% of all drinking-and-driving incidents.
- 85% of drinking-and-driving incidents involved “binge drinkers” — men who consume five or more drinks, or women who consume four or more, in a short period.
Behind every one of these statistics is a real person and a real family. When an impaired driver causes a crash, the injuries are often severe — and the law gives you the right to hold that driver accountable.
