About Our Partnership

Morrison & Hughes: Cobb County Fire’s Chosen Personal Injury Firm

Cobb County Fire & Emergency Services protects the citizens and visitors of Cobb County around the clock — fires, crashes, medical calls, and rescues. That commitment is built on a value Morrison & Hughes shares: nobody stands alone.

As the department’s preferred personal injury firm, we extend that protection off the clock. When a firefighter or a member of their family is hurt — in a car accident, a truck crash, or by someone else’s negligence — we step in, explaining your rights, taking on the insurance companies, and pursuing the full compensation you deserve.

This is an educational, “we’re here for you” relationship. We come to the stations, we show up for department events, and we answer the phone when one of your own needs help. No cost to the department, ever.

We come to the stations to walk firefighters through car accidents, off-duty injuries, and how to protect a claim from minute one.

Car, Truck & Motorcycle Accidents

We coordinate workers’ compensation with any third-party personal injury claim so your benefits and your recovery work together.

Keep This in the Glove Box

After a Crash: A Firefighter’s Checklist

On the clock or off, what you do in the first few minutes after a crash protects your health and your claim. Share this with your crew.

1

Get Safe & Check for Injuries

Move out of traffic if you safely can, turn on hazards, and check everyone for injuries before anything else.

2

Call 911

Request police and EMS if anyone is hurt. Insist on an official Georgia crash report and get the report number.

3

Document the Scene

Photograph all vehicles, plates, damage, road conditions, signs, and injuries. More photos are always better.

4

Exchange Information

Collect the other driver’s insurance and contact info, plus names and numbers of any witnesses before they leave.

5

See a Doctor

Even if you feel fine — adrenaline hides concussions and internal injuries. Prompt records protect your health and claim.

6

Don’t Give a Recorded Statement

The other insurer will call fast. Politely decline and refer them to your attorney before saying anything about fault.

7

Report It If On Duty

If you were working, report it through your chain of command so any workers’ compensation claim is preserved.

8

Call Morrison & Hughes

Before signing anything, call us. The consultation is free — and as a Cobb County firefighter you get 10% off our personal injury fees.

Common Questions

Cobb County Fire Q&A

What discount do Cobb County firefighters get at Morrison & Hughes?
Active members of Cobb County Fire & Emergency Services — and the members of their household — receive a 10% discount on personal injury attorney’s fees on personal injury matters. That’s on top of our contingency-fee promise: you pay no attorney’s fees unless we recover for you.
Does the discount cover my family?
Yes. The 10% personal injury attorney-fee discount extends to the immediate household of a Cobb County firefighter on qualifying personal injury matters. When your family is hurt, we’re here for them too.
Does this partnership cost the department or its members anything?
No. Our educational presentations, member resources, and consultations are free. There’s no cost to Cobb County Fire or its members, and members only pay reduced attorney’s fees if we recover compensation for them on a personal injury matter.
What if I’m hurt on the job?
If another party caused your injury, you may have a third-party personal injury claim in addition to any workers’ compensation benefits. We coordinate both so your benefits and your injury recovery work together — and we pursue damages workers’ comp doesn’t cover, like full lost wages and pain and suffering.
What does “preferred personal injury firm” mean?
It means Cobb County Fire & Emergency Services has chosen Morrison & Hughes as the personal injury firm it points members to for education, guidance, and representation — including a 10% personal injury fee discount for firefighters and their families.
