About Adam

From Rescue Work to Courtroom Defense

Adam Brown is a partner at Morrison & Hughes and a criminal and injury attorney. He is dedicated to defending Georgians facing high-stakes criminal charges, from DUI, vehicular homicide, and serious injury by vehicle to drug offenses, aggravated assault, and aggravated battery. He also represents people who have been injured in accidents, and he brings more than a decade of criminal defense experience to every case.

Adam's first career was in emergency response. He served as a firefighter and EMT, trained in vehicle extrication and high-angle rescue, and has been a registered nurse for more than 20 years, working in emergency rooms and critical care units across the country. He has spent much of his life at the scene and at the bedside, and he understands injuries and medical evidence in a way few lawyers do.

He earned his law degree with honors from Mercer University School of Law, where he clerked with the Criminal and Civil Divisions of the United States Attorney's Offices for the Eastern District of Tennessee and the Middle District of Georgia. After law school, he served as a public defender in Paulding County, handling felony, misdemeanor, juvenile, and appellate cases. A nationally known DUI defense firm then recruited him into private practice, and while there he was elected a member of the National College of DUI Defense (NCDD) and Georgia's Defense of Drinking Drivers group (DoDD).

Adam has completed the same training DUI Task Force officers receive, including Standardized Field Sobriety Testing, Advanced Roadside Impaired Driving Enforcement, and Drug Recognition Expert coursework, along with the NCDD Harvard DUI Symposium and courses in Intoxilyzer breath testing and forensic metrology. Knowing exactly how a prosecution case is built is what lets him take one apart. A year at a regional civil defense firm representing insurance carriers taught him the insurers' playbook as well. Today, he is one of only two Senior Legal Editors in Georgia for the Litigation Division of Thomson Reuters Practical Law.

Adam lives in Dahlonega with his wife and kids and spends as much time outdoors as he can. His clients get what his patients always did: straight answers, steady hands, and someone who stays beside them when things get hard.
