What Is Kids' Chance of Georgia?

Kids' Chance of Georgia, Inc. is a remarkable organization dedicated to providing educational scholarships to the children of Georgia workers who have been seriously or fatally injured on the job. Since its inception in 1988, Kids' Chance has raised nearly $6 million and directly impacted the lives of more than 300 students — providing not only financial support, but hope and a brighter future.

Every year, Georgia families face the aftermath of catastrophic and fatal workplace injuries. For the children left behind, a scholarship can be the difference between a deferred dream and a college degree. That is exactly the kind of long-term difference Kids' Chance was created to make.

Honoring Abbie Rockefeller's Journey

Abbie Rockefeller, a recipient of the Morrison & Hughes Kids' Chance Scholarship, is a Psychology student at Augusta University working toward becoming a Clinical Psychologist. Her calling was shaped by something deeply personal.

When Abbie was just seven, her father was seriously injured in a car accident while traveling for work. She grew up watching him endure chronic nerve pain, tremors, and allodynia — a condition where even the lightest touch causes severe pain, making something as simple as a hug impossible for years. Rather than let those challenges define her, Abbie turned them into purpose: a determination to help others through life's hardest moments.
