Morrison & Hughes Presents a $5,000 Check to Support Riders — L.A.M.A. Atlanta

Autumn in Atlanta means cooler air, clearer roads, and some of the best riding weather of the year. To celebrate the riding season and support the motorcycling community, Morrison & Hughes is proud to present a $5,000 donation to the Latin American Motorcycle Association (L.A.M.A.) — Atlanta chapter.

This contribution will help fund community outreach, rider education, and charity events that keep riders safer and more connected.

Why We Gave

At Morrison & Hughes we ride, we care, and we represent people who have been seriously injured while riding. Supporting local rider organizations like L.A.M.A. Atlanta allows us to give back to the community that we serve and to promote safe, responsible motorcycling for everyone.

“Riding is a passion — we have to keep Georgia’s roads safe for the motorcycling community. We’re honored to support L.A.M.A. Atlanta and their work to keep riders informed and protected.”

Now Is the Time to Enjoy a Ride — Safely

Atlanta is full of distracted drivers, and even a motorcyclist who makes no mistakes faces risks on the road. Whether you’re planning a short cruise across town or a weekend trip on the Blue Ridge Parkway, follow these safe-riding practices to reduce the chance of an incident:

  • Wear proper protective gear — a DOT-approved helmet, jacket, gloves, pants, and boots. Protective gear reduces the risk of severe injury, and it lets us argue at trial that you took every available precaution.
  • Increase visibility — use reflective gear, keep your headlight on, and signal early. Make it easy for drivers to see you, so a negligent driver can’t claim they didn’t.
  • Stay trained and current — take a refresher or advanced-riding course to sharpen technique and hazard awareness.
  • Maintain your bike — check tires, brakes, lights, fluids, and controls before every ride.
  • Ride sober and focused — never ride under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Fatigue is dangerous too; plan rest stops.
  • Keep a safe following distance — allow extra space to brake and react. If you rear-end a driver who stops suddenly, an officer will almost always assign you fault. O.C.G.A. § 40-6-49
  • Ride within your skill limits — avoid aggressive maneuvers and speeds beyond your comfort and training.

If an Accident Occurs — Know What to Do

In the unfortunate event of a crash, the steps you take at the scene matter for your safety and for any future legal claim:

  • Stay safe — move away from traffic.
  • Don’t admit fault — stick to the facts.
  • Riding together? Have your group help verify witness accounts.
  • Call 911 — report the crash and wait for police.
  • Gather info — photos, driver’s license, insurance, and witnesses.
  • Get medical care — hidden injuries are common.
  • Preserve evidence — keep all gear, even if damaged. Do not repair or discard it.
  • Secure legal representation — get the Law Team at Morrison & Hughes.

If you’re able, take photos from multiple angles of vehicle damage, road conditions, traffic signs and signals, your bike, and your injuries. Collect names, phone numbers, and insurance details from other drivers and witnesses. A police report, medical documentation, and witnesses are critical to protecting your rights.
